Day 1 Welcome to Sri Lanka

Upon arrival, your local guide from U Travels will meet you at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. You will be travelling to your accommodation in Giritale which will take approximately 5 hours. In the evening you will have to chance to see Slenders Lorises, a small nocturnal mammal in action through the Loris by night program at Smithsonian primate research centre.

The well known monkey camp located in Polonnaruwa found neighbouring the great reservoir Parakrama Samudraya is a non-profit organisation which aims to conserve the primate diversity in Sri Lanka. The Loris by night program allows you to witness lorises in action from the moment they wake up, munching on leaves or catching insects. During the trail you may also see other nocturnal birds and mammals.

Day 2 Heading to the coastline

Day 2 of this tour will begin at the crack of dawn with an early morning safari at Minneriya National Park, a 30 minute drive from Giritale. You will enjoy the beauty of sunrise and witness the early morning activities of various animals. Following this you will travel to Passikudah found along the eastern coastline of Sri Lanka. Your overnight stay will be in Passikudah.

The largest Asian elephant gathering in the world is seen at Minneriya National Park located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. In addition, a vast variety of mammals, birds and reptiles such as deers, wild buffalos, crocodiles, iguanas, purple faced leaf monkeys and Indian peacocks are seen in the park.

Found approximately 1 hour from Passikudah, Thoppigala Mountain offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area rich in dense greenery. Following this you will travel back to Passikudah and the remainder of the day is yours to relax by the beach.  Your overnight stay will be in Passikudah.

Thoppigala, also known as Baron’s Cap is a small mountain full of dense jungle famous for its unique shape of a hat. Archaeological work in the area surrounding the mountain suggests that it was at some point in time home to several monasteries.

Day 5 Day 5: Another day by the beach
